After days of intense searching, investigators found the body of 9-year-old Jessica Marie Lunsford on March 19, 2005, in John Evander Couey’s back yard. He has pleaded not guilty.

I live 20 miles from where Jessie disappeared. I have a 13 yr old son who cried with me the day they announced she was found. Couey has no right to live any longer. He has taken one of God’s precious gifts. He admitted to it time and time again. Why waste the time and money of a trial. I understand the legalities and such however, this man is guilty cut & dry. I say let the people determine his fate without a trial. I bet he wouldnt live 1 second longer.

Our judicial system has become nothing more than attorneys trying to out maneuver each other with truth getting lost in the process. Trials are no longer a search for truth, for any attorney to defend a guilty client is abhorrant. An attorney should simply make certain that an accused person gets a fair trial. The intent is NOT to find loop holes to allow the guilty to go free on a technicality. How many innocent victims, Jessica Lunsford included, would have loved to have the opportunity to “appeal” the outcome of their encounter with a criminal?

I feel for the family and keep them in my thoughts on a daily basis. I served on a jury of a death penalty case involving a child. The chosen jurors have a very tough job ahead of them.
We have a job to do as Citizens and the system works.
Let’s all have faith.

My prayers go out to the Lunsford family. My sister was murdered twenty-eight years ago and I have never gotten over that. Mark keep your head held high and believe me you will go through much more hurt and pain before this is over. Couey I pray you rot in jail. The general population would be much worse that death. God Bless All

John Couey Should Have been Castrated when he told the officials he had a problem. We should blame the judicial System. Because when a person has thoughts about children we should castrate them and it will take care of situations that we have. Instead of officials wanting to parole just to put money into the system.
CASTRATE THEM ALL

What makes a person do something as terrible as killing a child? The family should not have to relive all that pain and horror. John Couey must pay for what he did. No excuses…

I see these rants about revenge and hate.
What about a trial first? Then we can know the truth, or as much as we will know. There is no justice in the earth, but there’s a lot of ignorance when it comes to due process. Get over the sensationalism and learn something from all this. Lord have mercy on us all!

I think they should let John Couey loose and unprotected. Let the public take care of him. I doubt he’d get a block away. If not them take him to Rockcrusher Canyon and let us (the public) at him. Save the taxpayers money.

This makes me sick to my stomach.
To Mark Lunsford and his family - my prayers and thoughts are with you. May you continue to remain strong and push forward in your efforts to stop predators such as this scum.

This man is a sick murderer who deserves to die a horrible death just as poor Jessica did. I have two young girls and I can not imagine the pain and agony Jessicas father is going through. The claim that he was abused as a child does not make him innocent of this crime nor does it give him an excuse!! However, because of organizations like the Liberal ACLU, this monster will find a way to get out of this crime!! ANYONE who intentionally hurts a child deserves to die!!

That would be so wrong if nothing happpens to that men how could
someone have the heart to take someone’s
child from there home and than after
he rapped her he than killed her.
he needs to get real pay back for
that hopefully he will go through hell the rest of his life.

I don’t understand how we can worry about someones “rights” being violated, as they say they were in Couey’s case!
ARE WE ALL FORGETTING ABOUT JESSICA’S RIGHTS? SHE DIDN’T HAVE A CHANCE TO VOICE HER OPINION ABOUT HER RIGHTS!
.... I’m so tired of our little angels being murdered day after day and these scum being given “RIGHTS”!!!!

You got to be kidding me!! Not Guilty!! He knew exactly what he was doing to that little girl!!! I hope and pray he gets what he deserves!!! He needs to suffer just like Jessica did - I hope he doesn’t get off easy by a technicality.

I can’t understand why the dog’s never picked up jess’s scent . That was my first thought when Jess was found.
I also have a ten year old daughter I sleep on my couch most night’s like a mother hen protecting her baby from animals Like Couey.
I’m most concerned about the three family members left in society for us to deal with these people look sick they need help. Let’s hope they get it befor they get drunk or druged and do the same thing as Couey did.

This is one of those times when you have trouble conceiving a punishment horrific enough to fit the crime.
Perhaps Saddam Hussein could be hired in an advisory capacity. He has a good mind for such things

Seems everyone would not have a problem charging him with this horrable crime, only the officials (judge)try to do all they can to protect him, makes the public wonder about them too.

We the people of Florida are going to give Mr. Couey a real nice trial. He will receive the best trial that money can buy and and we will pay for it with our tax dollars. We will then find him guilty and we will remove him from the land of the living as quickly as is possible.

Not guilty? by reason of insanity?! From the sound of it all the evidence says he is totally guilty. The guy is obviously pathetically deranged. how about a firing squad?

John Couey Is a Animal he should have to pay the highest price for his actions. He knew what he was doing he was in control of his mind. How many more children and familys have to pay the price of loosing their child to such crimes? Couey plead not Guilty when he knows he is Gulity of his crimes. Jessica Lunsford was a innocent child, Her Farther and family shouldn’t have this pain in there lives. Childhood is priceless this world is tuff enough with out people like John Coueey talking children away from Their familys. Everyone in the Couey house should be charged for the actions Done to Jessica her father and her grandparents DESERVE to see Couey found Gulity

Stop playing the legal game and don’t worry about his rights. Lets give Mark Lundsford a shovel to bury him alive. An eye for an eye!
To the Lundsford family, I am so sorry for your loss. Stay strong Mark and go get them.
