Demonstrators continue to protest a bill that would make it a felony to be in this country illegally and would make it a crime to dispense aid to the nation’s 11 million illegal immigrants. What are your thoughts on the issue? Tell us what you think.

Legal immigration is a necessity for our country’s rich diversity, but illegal entry is a criminal act that should not go unpunished. Period. However, illegal aliens are not the primary problem. The employers who hire illegal aliens are the primary problem. My final word: Don’t waste our tax dollars deporting illegal aliens. Instead, make the employers who hire them felons, hit the employers with heavy fines, and throw the employers in prison for a year or two. When the jobs dry up, the illegal aliens will leave on their own and at their own expense.

I watched Teddy Kennedy speak against the Kyl ammendment citing the number of charitable organizations and the Catholic Cardinal that help the illegal immigrants. If they want to help them so much, they should go to Mexico and help them down there, not vote legislation requiring the U.S. government to provide that help.

Illegal is illegal, do we make exceptions for some, yet for the criminals we do illegal actions the hammer comes down..to start to address this problem we must first look at the employers who are taking in the illegals, every year changing their social security numbers to avoid detection in the payroll records, paying wages by checks that do not include any sort of employment tax withheld..one would ask why would an employer do so, for pure illegal personal gain on the employers part!!!!!!!!

Since when did ILLEGAL become LEGAL??
No amnesty to those who have crossed our borders illegally!! Giving amnesty is an EASY solution to a very MAJOR problem!
Is it fair to those who have applied, met requirements and waited for years to become a United States citizen? NO, it is not!
This issue is not about immigration, OUR country IS being invaded. This is OUR country, NOT theirs!! Stop snoozing Washington, D.C.!
9/11 should have been a wake-up call for America’s leaders to secure our borders in the name of national security!! WHAT HAPPENED?

The 11 million illegal immigrants that are already in our country are upsetting the balance of our society. When the departments of Social Security medicaid etc. was forcasted for future budgets years ago,it did not include “Illegal immigrants.” Could this be why we are having a short fall of funds today? Every body is blaming their opposing political parties for lack of funds…how about looking at it from a differant approach. Research was done, people knew we were going to live longer, programs were put into place to make sure we would have enough funds for change in the ratio of “birth to death rate.” Now due to the influx of illegals…THE SCALES THAT BALANCE OUR SOCIETY IS OFF, and will CONTINUE TO GET WORSE!

The policy of illegal immigrants getting drivers licenses, Medicaid and welfare and food stamps is just wrong being here illegally is a crime here, just as it is around the world so if we forgive them why not just open the prison gates as if illegal is ok why do we have jails?

I agree with a being limiting the illegals. I personally am tired of the system as it is and being white and a minority in my own country. The Hispanic poplulation does not want to really be a citizen in the U.S. or they would learn English. They come over here and have numbers of children with no sense of birth control. I am tired of them not being able to drive and have become a victim of them not having a driver license or even insurance but yet they enjoy the perks of this country.
If I were in their country then I would learn their ways but being Hispanic does not make them priviledged in the U.S.

were it 12 million irish or english or germans—you know, white follks—the people screaming would have no problem, would they?
but 12 million, willing to do our dirtiest jobs for pennies, and who are brown and speak funny…......horror!
the ‘publicans exploited racism in the ‘60’s, moved on to misogyny and homophobia….now its xenophobia! they will be coming after YOU next, for whatever it is you do or are that THEY dont think is ‘right’!

Illegal aliens entering the US is out of control. However, I wish to correct the general public’s perception about something. If a person does not have any INS status;is an illegal alien, there is no assistance available for them period. No food stamps, no welfare check and no Medicaid. They can get Emergency medicaid. However if they have a child born in this country, they do receive benefits for that child only.
I also would like to point out the selective concerns our government has. Immigration has been a major problem for years, but has gone on deaf ears in all areas of our government. However they sure did get proactive in a matter of days over the Terry Schiavo case - a matter that was none of their business.

The USCIS offers a list of processing dates for all applications recieved at their 5 national service centers. Lately, however the processing dates of all cases have been frozen except for 129 Immigrant worker applications which are apparently beeing fast-tracked through the system at an alarming rate. It would appear as if the USCIS is in some sort of rush or under some sort of pressure to approve these aplications. The State Department…Lobbyists…Corporations? The only logical conclusion is that because of the resources being deicated to this massive effort must be detracting from the resources being applied toward the cases of US citizens like trying to bring their own relatives, wives, and children into the US.

THIS ISSUE IS ONE WHERE THE CONGRESS AND ALL THE OTHER MEMBERS THERE OF ARE BUYING VOTES AT THE EXPENSE OF EVERY TAYPAYER IN THIS COUNTRY…......INSTEAD OF REALLY MAKING A TRUE STUDY OF THIS ISSUE AND FINDING OUT WHAT THE IMPACT IS ON THOSE OF US WHO WILL PAY THE PRICE FOR THESE FREELOADERS AND GOING INTO DEPTH TO DETERMINE JUST WHO IS COMING INTO OUR COUNTRY, THE VOTING MEMBERS IN WASHINGTON ARE AGAIN SELLINMG THOSE OF US WHO HAVE GIVEN OUR LIVES AND OUR HEARTS TO THIS COUNTRY DOWN THE RIVER FOR THE POWER OF THE VOTE..I TRUST THAT EVERY AMERICAN VOTER WILL MAKE SURE THAT ANY MEMBER OF CONGRESS WHO VOTED IN FAVOR OF THIS ISSUE WILL NOT GET THEIR VOTE AGAIN.

What are we telling the world? It is OK to break our laws. Just make sure you choose the correct law to ignore.
The operable word in “Illegal ALien is Illegal” My Grandparent came through Ellis Island after waiting his turn.
They don’t even have the decency to wave the American flag, but the flag of their birth. Those who demand a return of all the taxes they paid while working here illegally sure wouldn’t want to pay for school & health and social services they received would they?

1956 I came from Holland to the USA
my patents and siblings came in under a refugee quota.
before coming,we had to have:
a sponsor
a criminal background check
a physical
attend Americanization school in D C
to learn about US government and language
Now some 50 years later, just slip across the border and you’re in!
thanks to the US government we now have a serious problem!
we are destoying ourselves from within!
Hopefully we won’t get another Hitler in Washington DC
something has got to give!
time will tell if it is too late

I dont understand the legislators why they take much of their time about the illegal immigrants who help USA economy down. Why not those legal immigrants who dont have a permanent residents but a working visa who are helping the economy grow, paying their taxes and contributing to social security even there is no assurance that they will get back their contributions.

Seems we have been invaded. And, no one in power seems to care. The only way to defeat America, is from within.
Alot of us do not have health care. But, we give it to illegals. We let foreign people buy US land. Take over companies. Etc.
And, no one seems to be defending America, here in our own backyard anymore.
Why is that?

Since American businesses have exported most high-tech jobs, Americans need those apple and fruit-picking jobs to supplement your President’s vision for social security in the 21st century.
You need a program that forces anyone who wants to obtain citizenship who is over 21 years of age to serve for 2 years in the military. We are tired of President Bush’s failed social programs, his Administration’s giveaways to big business cronies, and his tax breaks for millionaires.
Send the illegals back home. Stop the free aid, free healthcare, and fine businesses who hire, or make loans to illegal immigrants, and you will quickly see the illegals return to their homeland.

Illeal Immigrant…what is so hard to understand, they broke the law to enter our country, they break the law every day by driving without insurance and licenses. They do not pay for their medical care, you and I do, they do not pay taxes. I moved here from Arizona and have seen the death and destruction they have brought. Mexican Nationals ambushed Phoeix Police Officer Marc Atkinson, killed him so that they could sell drugs, they ambushed Chris Collings so that they could rob a bank, they ambushed USNPS Ranger Kris Eggle at Organ Pipe National Monument. They are killing us economically and in human lives. Send them all back home to whatever country they came from, make them follow the law and immigrate legally.

Wake up America! I have been saying for the last 15 years that the languish in this country will not be English in the near future. It is now 10 years to late to stop what will happen. My wife’s mother and father is Spanish form Spain so I have no animosity. This country will separate into ethnic parts and Americans will have a small part of it as our politicians give up seats for votes and money.

I am watching the Senate Immigration hearings and am so disgusted with the whole thing. I just heard Senator Dodd say that we should consult with President Fox about our troops on the border. I have to wonder what he is smoking or chewing. I sent him an e-mail (congress.org,an excellent website) and told him that I thought the Kennedy-McCain bill sounded as if it had been drafted by illegal aliens or President Fox. Now I know it. There are a few Senators who are fighting for us. They are Senators Kyle, Sessions, Cornin, Dorgan and a few others. We should dump the rest and elect a Congress that wants America to remain America and not the north forty of Mexico.
