Confirmation hearings for Judge Samuel Alito begin this week. Do you think Alito is fit to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court? Will Alito receive a fair hearing?

I think a judge who cannot control his own courtroom should not even be considered for such a position.

I agree with Mr. Wynne in his comments about the Senator of Massachusetts. He should be barred from being on any committee that will be judging the merits of another person. His memory and the memory of many of his friends became very poor. In less than 20 years he could not remember the death of the young girl only days after the incident.

How dare Sen. Kennedy go back 20 plus years to question an incident in a distinguished jurist’s life. I would like to go back and question Sen. Kennedy on his actions many years ago. Unfortunately, the only witness to his actions is dead!

I believe that Samuel Alito would be a fine Supreme Court Justice. The partisan politics continues regarding his qualifications. If President Bush were to nominate Micky Mouse I am sure that partisan politics would prevail. What the liberals don’t understand is that moderate America really doesn’t care what his opinion on abortion is, his job if he is selected will be to interpret the constitution of these United States, not MAKE law. Making law is what the Congress does!

Why is the highest court in the land to be composed of only MALES? This is a court that can make major changes to our future. I thought that women had finally been accepted as equals. We can now vote, own property and make almost as much money as our male counterparts. Don’t think that matters, neither did our leaders in the 1800s’ when it came to women’s rights. I think that this is a glaring picture of what is in our future. I sure hope that the females in the USA, a majority in the gender, will stand up and be counted on this. Better get back to my ironing and cooking, time for me to wake up the master for his breakfast. He seems to only be happy when I am pregnant and barefooted.

It comes as no surprise that Samuel Alito received the highest rating from the American Bar Association, despite that associaton’s somewhat liberal leanings. After his ten years on the Court of Appeals, attorneys of all stripes have recognized Alito’s personal integrity and strong acumen. It is a shame that the matter has become so politicized; I don’t recall such vitriol when Ruth Ginsburg or Stephen Breyer (two liberal Court of Appeal judges) were put up for the same position.
Sincerely,
William F. Jung

But…Mr Wynne, I sincerely agree with you about Ted Kennedy. He has no standing to question anyone’s actions. He should have been voted out of office years ago with the antics he has pulled. But, those are Massachusetts voters, my home state, and they are a breed of their own.
