LARGO - A 51-year-old Largo woman was killed Sunday night when she crashed her Ford Explorer through a fence at 11890 Walsingham Road and the sport utility vehicle flipped over, ejecting her, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Rhonda Smith, of 2165 Nellie St., was not found until today, however.
Smith was southbound on 119th Street but failed to stop for a stop sign at Walsingham Road at about 11:35 p.m. Sunday, a patrol press release states. The Explorer went onto a private road, began to rotate, and collided with a fence, the release states. Then it struck a wooden fish pond and a pine tree, then overturned, then struck a second wooden fish pond, coming to rest against a building at the property at 11890 Walsingham Road, the release states.
Patrol spokesman Larry Coggins said Smith was not found until today, when a neighbor who had heard a noise the night before came outside and spotted the vehicle this morning. The property at 11890 Walsingham Road is a house that has been converted to an antique shop.
