TAMPA - By the end of next year, the southern stretch of Howard Avenue will take an upscale turn.
That’s when The Epicurean, a 75-room boutique hotel with a day spa, restaurant and rooftop pool, is expected to open, a spokeswoman for the hotel said.
Details about the hotel, which has been in the works for at least three years, were revealed Sunday morning at the annual Bern’s Winefest.
The hotel is the latest project connected to the Tampa steakhouse that for decades has lured sports stars, celebrities and politicians with its famous steaks and extensive wine cellar.
The restaurant is part of a group of establishments that includes Sideberns, farther north on Howard, and Bern’s Fine Wine and Spirits.
The hotel, which will make up three buildings of three, four and five stories, will feature its own restaurant concept, spokeswoman Heather Sherer-Berkoff said.

Time to update this story with pictures etc. So far it looks like a big parking lot?? Are they actually building a hotel or just more parking?
