I am covering the District 9 congressional race between Phyllis Busanky and Gus Bilirakis. This afternoon, I met with Bilirakis at a polling place in Holiday, Southern Pasco County. With a light rain coming down, he arrived in a large RV with his congressman father, Michael, in the passenger seat. I quizzed him about the negative campaign. He met a long-time supporter all dressed in red-white and blue. My co-worker, Rod Challenger, met with Phyllis Busansky at a mobile home park in Oldsmar. The rainshowers were really coming down, so umbrellas were the rule. Phyllis struck me as very energized and eager to see results. She proclaimed, she could win or lose, but thinks she will win. Both candidates blamed the other for the negative campaign.
