Hillsborough County authorities are investigating a boating accident on Saturday that sent two people to the hospital.
Fire rescue crews were called to an area near the I-75 bridge over the Alafia River where two women were in the water after their boat hit a piling. One of the two was classified a trauma alert, officials said.
The freeway was closed for about 45 minutes while a helicopter landed to take the woman to Tampa General Hospital. The other was taken by ambulance, the sheriff’s office said.
