PALM HARBOR - A 19-year-old Tarpon Springs man died early Thursday after the car he was driving veered off West Lake Boulevard, struck a tree and flipped over before careening into a house.
Nikitas Manis, of 949 Oakview Road, Tarpon Springs, was pronounced dead outside the house at 1277 West Lake Blvd. following the 2:08 a.m. wreck, said Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Larry Coggins.
Two passengers in the 1998 Cadillac Manis was driving—Spencer L. Nicholas, 20, of Tarpon Springs, and Apostolos Sfougaristios, 19, of Holiday—were taken to Bayfront Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Coggins said.
None of the three was wearing seat belts, he said.
The owner of the house was not in the area where the car crashed, and she was not injured, Coggins said.
The car, worth roughly $20,000, was destroyed; the house sustained roughly $10,000 worth of damage, Coggins said.
RIP Nikita ... the memories will forever be in our hearts! .. we love you “chiquita banana”!
My heart goes out to the family and friends of these young people. Judge not others less you be judged. The loss of a life, no matter what the circumstances, is a tragedy.
First off I’d like to say sorry for your loss (Family and Friends). I just cant believe how someone can sit there and ask Uhhh were they drunk? That is out of line. Someones life was ended and thats all you can say. Anyways I’ve always been told the good die young. I will keep the family in my prayers. God Bless and remember if it was not this young man’s time to go God wouldnt of taken him. He is in a better place now. With our Lord.Miss him but let him go. RIP.
Sad but preventable. Seat belts and less speed could have prevented the tragedy. The road isn’t to blame, the driver is. Sadly, most people just don’t get the fact that driving is something that should be taken seriously.
How many more people are going to get killed and hurt on that road before they do something?!?!?!
I personally know the kid’s brother he and my brother are best friend and play football together. He was good kid that came from a good family with strong values. He was the oldest of 4. And they are devastated by this. As we all are. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family & friends
It is an unexpected event that took place, no matter what the cause of this accident may be people shouldn’t assume. No one has the right to pre-judge another individual guarding time issues. It could be a number of things. Who cares where he was coming from unless alcohol is involved? The important thing here to remember is that a family and close friends will be grieving for a long time to come.
Who cares what time it was. Noone has the right to say that because of the time of the accident that their lifestyle needed to be changed. That is a very negative remark, and I wonder if you care how that may hurt his parents. Never assume, Find out.
my heart goes out to the family who lost their son in this tragedy.
i lost my son 7 weeks ago to a careless driver, my son was only 16 and a passenger in the vehicle.
Be responsible take driving seriously it only take a slight error to lose control of the car.
2:08am hmm.. guess they did not have to work. Nothing good happens that early in the morning. Hope this changes the lifestyles of people around them.
are they drunk?
Wear seat belts.

This is not the time to point fingers. This is a tragic loss for the family and anyone who knew Nikita. He was a warm, sweet, loving young man. There was a time when he was part of my family and I loved him like a son. I cherish the memories I have of him. God bless him and his family. Let him rest in peace.
