BRANDON – A 61-year-old man is recovering after being struck by lightning as he crossed a Sam’s Club parking lot.
It happened at 2021 Brandon Boulevard.
The man was heading towards his truck with his wife around lunchtime when he said he felt like he had been hit on a football field.
By the time paramedics arrived, he was sitting in a chair inside the Sam’s Club with injuries officials said were consistent with a lightning strike.
He was taken to Tampa General Hospital in good condition, according to a Hillsborough Fire Rescue news release.
