TAMPA - A portion of Sheldon Road in northwestern Hillsborough County will be closed for a month for railroad crossing repairs.
If you’re planning on driving Sheldon Road in October and November, you might want to revise those plans, county spokesman Steve Valdez said.
Beginning Oct. 16, the county will close Sheldon Road just south of Old Linebaugh Avenue to allow CSX to replace a pad at the railroad crossing.
Valdez said the pad is sinking and could become a hazard to drivers. Because the pad is in one big piece, it has to be installed all at once.
The road could remain closed until Nov. 16, he said.
During the construction, drivers will be asked to detour onto Waters Avenue, Anderson Road and Linebaugh Avenue. Valdez said drivers should be patient because those roads will be more congested to accommodate the traffic that usually uses Sheldon Road.
