TAMPA - Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies on Monday released the name of a man they say was the victim of a homicide in Progress Village nearly three weeks ago.
It took that long to find and notify the next of kin for Richard Lapier, 68, 3520 74th St. S., deputies said.
A motorist driving past Lapier’s home just before 5 a.m. on July 6 spotted him lying on his front yard. Deputies said only that he was dead at the scene and had suffered trauma to his upper body.
Detectives continue to investigate the case and are asking the public for help.
Anyone with any information about the homicide is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
