Police: Woman Hits Breeder With Chihuahua

ST. PETERS, Mo. (AP)—A woman angry that her new puppy had died pushed her way into a dog breeder’s home and repeatedly hit her on the head with the dead Chihuahua, authorities said.

The 33-year-old woman told police she had taken the puppy to a veterinarian, who said it was only 4 weeks old and needed to be returned to its mother. But before she could return the puppy, it died.

Early Wednesday, the woman went to the breeder’s home, pushed her way inside and began fighting with the breeder as she tried to make her way to the basement to get another puppy, police said.

The breeder wrestled the woman out of her house to the front porch, where the woman then hit the breeder over the head numerous times with the dead puppy, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported, citing police.

As the woman drove away, she waved the dead puppy out of the car’s sunroof and yelled threats at the breeder, police said. She later called the breeder and threatened her and her family, according to court records.

Police said they are considering felony burglary charges and misdemeanor assault charges.

Bet the breeder is glad she didn’t sell Great Danes.

Both sick!  What could that poor puppy have weighed, anyway - certainly no more than a pound?.  Was that puppy really dead, or just dying and in shock.?  Why she did not continue to her vet, with this possibly, dying puppy, is, again, wrong.  Perhaps she would have made a better impression had she caught herself a rat and beat up the “breeder” with that.  Neither should own animals, again, and both be prosecuted.

What a lunatic!  Beating anyone with a dead puppy regardless of the reason is disrespectful and sick, sick, sick!  Sounds like she didn’t deserve the puppy to begin with and the breeder had no business raising them.

There is no “right” here.  As an animal lover and pet owner, I can certainly understand being devastated by getting a new puppy that ends in death.  However, there are ways to handle situations like this and this certainly wasn’t the right way.  After the actions of the “puppy buyer” I wonder if she should have a puppy at all.  I can’t believe a person would actually hit someone with the carcass of a dead animal.  That’s like something out of a really bad movie.  As for the breeder, it sounds like a typical puppy mill scenario.  Not breeding to better the breed and love of Chihuahua’s but rather an “easy money machine”.  In my opinion charges should be filed against both the buyer and the seller as actions on both sides were outragous.  There is a pet lemon law in the state of Florida that states a puppy must be eight weeks of age and the seller must provide a health certificate that the pet is in good health at the time of sale.  I’m sure it differs from state to state.
