DADE CITY – Police here are searching for a white male suspect in the holdup of downtown bank just before noon today.
Police said a man robbed the branch of Center State Bank, 1405 Seventh St., at about 11:35 a.m and got away with an estimated $600. He did not show a weapon, and no one was hurt.
Police note there was a similar bank robbery in downtown Dade City on April 17 when a white male robbed the San Antonio Citizens Credit Union at 37925 Church Ave. In both cases, it appears the robber fled on foot – none of the witnesses saw him get into a car.
Dade City Police chief Phillip A. Thompson said the suspect in the most recent case was also described as being 6 feet tall, of medium build, with short brown hair. He was wearing mirrored sunglasses, dark blue shorts and a light blue T-shirt with some sort of emblem on it. He may have a tattoo on the calf of his right leg, and a tattoo, possibly of a cross, on his right bicep.
Dade City police: (352) 521-1495 for anyone with any information.
