According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s office a partial power failure is affecting one division at the Pinellas County Jail.
The power failure occurred at about 4:00 p.m. today as facility engineers worked to repair a power panel in the South Division of the jail. Emergency generators are providing electricity to the affected area of the jail and security components at the facility have not been compromised.
According to Pinellas County Jail Administrators, the power failure has resulted in a loss of air conditioning, and some interruption in video visitation in the affected area. The Pinellas County Jail has a current population of more than 3400 inmates, of which approximately 444 are housed in the affected area of the complex.
Representatives from Progress Energy and Pinellas County Facility Engineers are in the process of restoring full power to the jail and hope to do so by sometime on tomorrow.
what alot of people dont see here is all are innocent untill proven guilty and the county jail is where we store all the prisoners untill there trials ,now im not saying that all are innocent but the ones that are shouldnt be kept in inhumane condition,also the jailers use the a/c in the pinellas county jail to controll the prisoners,i have been in the middle of a control war between jailers and inmates where the jailers turned the a/c down to 40 degrees and left it there for 3 days till i wrote a letter to the warden .then i was transfered to another wing when they figured out that i knew they could be held responsible for there actions .by the way i was convicted wrongfully and a month later had my sentece vacated and set aside. so all inmates are not guilty.
To the people of the Tampa Tribune, News Channel 8 and TBO.com, why the hell would you think anyone would care that inmates are without the luxury of free electricity and when it’s expected to be back on???!!! Poor babies, I hope they’re not too hot...PLEASE! Here is some breaking news for you...NOBODY CARES! As far as I an concerned, they should all suffer as cave dwellers. Why don’t you report on something a little more worth reading?
OH MY GOODNESS! NO AIR CONDITIONING FOR OUR INMATES! How so sad. They must be SO miserable. Isnt that the IDEA?? My taxes are paying for food,shelter,beds?? Air conditioning? I soppose We pay for TV and playing cards too. Now, whats wrong with this picture? Is this even worth reporting? Lets talk about people who DO NOT commit crimes, and barely survive? Anyone paying attention to them? I don’t see them on the news if they can’t eat or cannot afford Medications. Priority’s are VERY mixed up in the media.
And this is news, what a waste of space, having such things like, electricity, etc is an earned priviledge, not a given, so there is no air conditioning, there are seniors who cant have a/c because they have to pay for medication and jail inmates are without, what a shame, maybe if jails were more primitive, it would be a deterent for crimes...I have to work to pay for such things that are given to you when you are a criminal in jail...I Enjoy my freedom too much, but I was appalled that this story made breaking news, this is a open door for inmates to protest they arent being treated fairly...Whats fair? victims of criminals...that have to live the rest of their lives in fear, etc because of being victimized..so tell me whats really fair!!

stupid officals should tear down the jail housing and build underground jail.
cause these crimes are getting crazy.
