The body of a man was found inside a burning home this morning, at 1701 E. Maple Ave. in Sulphur Springs.
The dead man has been identified as Roger Edward Toliver Jr. The cause of the fire is under investigation but is not suspicious, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.
Investigators say they were told Toliver was a cigarette smoker and may have caused another fire in the past by falling asleep while smoking. This morning’s fire, which was reported just after 5 a.m., began in a rear bedroom. The house had no smoke detector, authorities said.
No other injuries were reported.
