TAMPA - Fire marshals and police are searching for a man who is wanted in connection to an arson fire last week.
Thomas LaPlante is a suspect in the fire, according to a release from Tampa Fire Rescue. The fire happened on March 14 about 11:05 p.m. at the Towers of Channelside, 1211 E. Cumberland Ave.
The fire was at the top of the condominium’s western tower. Fire crews climbed up 29 floors to the roof and found a 20-pound propane cylinder that had been turned on and set ablaze, according to Tampa Fire Rescue. Another larger propane tank was found on the 29th floor. The fire was under control by 11:40 p.m. No injuries were reported.
