PLANT CITY – The site of one of Plant City’s most notorious slayings is going back on the auction block.
More than two years after Darren and Heather Kaiser were killed in a robbery, their Plant City property - including the home office where they were slain - will be auctioned. Potential bidders can preview the Kaisers’ property at 1905 Gordon St. 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday. The auction is 1 p.m. May 10.
At an auction last July, bidders bought the contents of their home and Internet car business, including an old sports car that police say 27-year-old Benjamin James Wibben stole in the January 2005 robbery and slayings. A deal for the home fell through.
Wibben, formerly of Fort Myers, is charged with first-degree murder and robbery in the shooting deaths of Heather, 26, and Darren, 37. He is being held without bail at Falkenburg Road Jail.
Police say the crime was the first double homicide in Plant City in more than 10 years.
The home includes three bedrooms and one bath, with about 1,400 square feet of space. A warehouse in the back has about 3,600 square feet of space. The one-acre property is zoned commercial and is just south of Interstate 4.
