CLEARWATER – An attempt to flee police led to a multi-car crash this morning, said a Clearwater police spokesman.
Officers had stopped the driver for a traffic violation around 4 a.m. when the man sped away, said spokesman Wayne Shelor. The driver headed eastbound on Druid Road when his convertible veered into a curb, hit one vehicle and flipped in the air. It came down on two other vehicles in front of a house in the 800 block of Crest Avenue, according to police.
The driver was airlifted to a hospital. Police have not released the man’s name or the extent of his injuries. They also have not said if the man will face any charges.
