TAMPA - Nearly 1,000 Gaither High School students and emergency responders from 26 agencies will test how the area might handle a terror attack at Raymond James Stadium.
The mock casualty drill will start this morning and last from 9 a.m. to noon. It will involve the Hillsborough County Emergency Operations Center, the stadium, the University of South Florida Sun Dome and several hospitals. The students will play the role of victims getting treatment at various sites.
Tampa Bay Boulevard closed at about 7 a.m. between Himes and North Dale Mabry. Drivers will likely notice fire equipment and police and other emergency vehicles in the area.
I took part in this drill 2 years ago when I was a senior in High School. This was very interesting and informative to see how all the emergency personal handle large emergencies such as this.
I would love to see a video on this. My son is there!
My husband heads the EOC. This is done every year and even though it may seem like a big game, it is quite serious and the emergency organiztions involved receive a lot of knowledge as to how to deal with certain emergencies/disasters.

My apologies, my husband is the RACES officer, which lead communications through the EOC. He’s not the head of the EOC.
Sorry!
