TAMPA - Police say a man tried to rape a woman and repeatedly punched her and threatened to kill her.
Jimmie Lee Blue, 51, punched the woman several times in the face and tried to put a nylon rope around her neck about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, an arrest report said. He got on top of her and told her “he would kill her if she didn’t shut up,” the report said.
Blue, whose address is unknown, also struck the woman’s left leg with an 18-inch metal pipe, causing an injury, the report said.
The woman said she thought she was going to be raped and killed, the report said.
A Tampa police officer arrived at the scene in the 700 block of West Ross Avenue shortly before 12:30 a.m. Blue then ran away and tried to hide in some bushes but was caught a little while later, the report said.
Police confiscated the metal pipe, three small nylon ropes and a jar of Vaseline from Blue, the report said.
He was held Wednesday at the Orient Road Jail; bail had not been set. He is charged with felony attempted sexual battery with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor resisting arrest without violence.

You know I think that all rapest, and predetors should be burned, why these people are here on earth is beyond me..This is not a sickness and who ever say’s that is, they should be checked there self!! and thats real!
thank god someone heard her screams and called police. most people probably wouldv’e ignored it and said its none of my buisness. cudos for that neighbor. 
I agree with you and am considering purchasing a weapon myself (kids grown/left).
Hard to really say what might have happened if she’d had a gun with her. She might have been shot with it and this story would be entirely different.
Something needs to be done about all the predators - sexual and otherwise.
If she owned and knew how to use a gun, this rapist would be, as they say in France, histoire. I was encouraged at the last gun show I attended, to see that approximately 1/3 of the people taking the concealed carry course were women.
Not to discredit the police, who cannot be outside every home, but calling 911 is not a secure means of self defense. In this case it took 15 minutes for the officer to arrive, plenty of time for the assailant to have killed his victim, if he chose.

Thank God the police arrived in time to save this woman. Otherwise she would probably be dead. Good job Tampa Police!
