LAKE WORTH - An 8-year-old girl was stabbed several times by her father before he set their home on fire in an apparent retaliation for losing a custody battle, authorities said Wednesday.
The girl, Crystal Camacho, her brother, Nelson, 10, and their father, 39-year-old Tony Camacho, died after the Dec. 21 fire that was started with gasoline.
The father and the brother died of smoke inhalation. An autopsy revealed a large shard of a 6-inch kitchen knife blade embedded in Crystal’s back. Her spine had been severed and she was paralyzed.
The medical examiner has not determined whether Crystal died from her wounds before she was exposed to the smoke, Palm Beach County sheriff’s spokesman Paul Miller said.
Investigators believe Tony Camacho started the fire in retaliation against his ex-wife, Jennie Carter.
Camacho had recently lost a custody battle with Carter, 37, over the two children. Carter told police he made threatening phone calls to her on Dec. 17, four days after their divorce was finalized. A judge had ordered Camacho to move out of the Lake Worth home by Jan. 12 so Carter could move in with the children.

Absolutely horrible!!! Why do prople think killing is the way out?? What must have went through the darling children’s minds? The suffering they went through is insane. Please, anyone who is in a similar situation, walk away, get help, run as fast as you can, away from the kids if you have any thoughts like this man did!!! Remember, even if you lose custody, you can still see the children, and things change too, when they get older you may be their choice to live with. Don’t give up and do something crazy, like this man did, get HELP!!!!!
Pray for the dear mother and the family and friends of these little darlings.
Well said, but you forgot one thing: Don’t be so selfish.
As a lawyer who has handled hundreds of child custody disputes, and as a divorced father, let me just say to any men out there who would ever contemplate an act such as this: Do whatever it takes to never let it go this far. Walk away. Get help. Disappear for the kid’s own good. You can hate the X for all you are worth; but the children’s lives are sacrosanct. If you think this is how you get even with your X, then blow your brains out and ##### about her all the way to Hell. But let the kids live. You are not punishing her; you are punishing them. Don’t take the kids lives because of your own sickness.

I really dont understand why people who divorce and children are involved whgo for one did not ask to be born.have to suffer such fates at the hands of one parent who can not deal with realites of life.i lost a friend that way her husband murder her and there unborn child because she was trying to move on from his physical abuse.and he had harmed her son from a previous relationship before him..i keep praying society will get better and not worse!the jury still out on that one.well God Bless this Mom she will need lots of consoleing in this time of bereavement…
