PLANT CITY - One of Plant City’s oldest hotels has changed names.
The Ramada Planation House Inn has been renamed Red Rose Inn and Suites. The 150-room hotel at Interstate 4 and Wheeler Street is no longer a part of the Ramada chain.
The hotel retains its same ownership and a “Gone with the Wind” style theme, including photos from the 1939 classic movie.
Evelyn Madonia, owner and general manager, said in a statement that the new name reflects “the beauty, Southern charm and hospitality that can be found inside.”
The hotel opened around 1970 as a Holiday Inn and changed to Ramada in the mid-1990s. The hotel was extensively renovated a few years ago. It was the official hotel of the Cincinnati Reds when the team trained in Plant City and includes a large meeting hall, the Red Rose Ballroom, site of many large community meetings.
