The Manatee School for the Arts had a comforting message for kidnap survivor Clay Moore this morning—stay home and take all the time you need to recover.
Clay wasn’t in school today and instead was continuing his recovery from an ordeal Friday where he was kidnapped at gunpoint, taken to a field and tied up with tape. He escaped, got help and was back with his family later that night.
Meanwhile, a massive police search continues for Clay’s abductor, who has reportedly fled the state. Police are looking for 22-year-old Ignacio Beltran-Moreno, who lived in a home in the 3700 block of 17th Street Court East in Samoset near Bradenton.

Before school today, about a dozen children in the Kingsfield Lakes neighborhood where Clay was snatched Friday waited at the bus stop with more security and fanfare than usual.
Many of the kids were escorted by their parents, and two Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies patrolled the neighborhood. One of the deputies followed the bus to the Palmetto campus. A trio of TV satellite trucks lined the sidewalk.
The Mayor of Parrish needs to give Clay a medal for bravery. He demostrated to be a very smart and resouceful young man. We are all very proud of him. I pray that the abductor gets caught very soon. He deserves to be in jail for his horrible act.

I am so happy that this story ended as it did, with Clay in the loving arms of his family. I agree, Clay deserves recognition for his bravery and intelligence. Although I’ve never met the boy, I am exceedingly proud of him. My prayers go out to him and his family for continued healing from this ordeal and I pray that all parents will take notice and beef up their own security measures for their own children.
