A Citrus County inmate is back behind bars after walking away from a work detail program.
25-year-old Jose Malagon-Cervantes was found in a car in Holly Hill at 5 p.m. yesterday. Also in the car were Malagon-Cervantes’ girlfirend and their one-year-old son.
It’s not clear if the girlfriend assisted Malagon-Cervantes in his escape. He walked away from the Kensington Fire Station in Lecanto Wednesday afternoon.
Malagon-Cervantes was serving time for violating his drug offender probation. Records show he’s been arrested for drug possession, selling methamphetamine and larceny.
He’s now facing a charge of escaping while in transport or working on roads.
About 2 years ago the Bushnell PD had a work detail out in my neighborhood picking up trash on the sides of the road in preparation for mowing. They had 2 groups of 10-15 inmates about 200’ apart from each other with the escort behind them. I noticed that one of the inmates was way out ahead of the rest of them, so I turned around and told the guard and he just brushed it off!!! He said to me “He will be fine” Can you believe that!!! So I continued on home and called the jail and told them what happened. They were going to send someone out to see what was going on. Never found out the outcome, but now you know who its “Watching the Store”
So who is watching the store. ?
The guy just walks off was their a guard, if so what was he doing? And for this the police Union wants a 13% rate hike. Give me a break guys.
Now the cost of finding hih will most likely be overtime wages. Then you wonder how a 40k police officer earns 65k overtime plus regular pay thats an over kill on the tax payers money who are already paying for a job well done.
