TAMPA - Stepped-up police patrols along West Shore Boulevard in November and December resulted in a drop in crime for the third straight year.
There were fewer robberies, burglaries and car break-ins than in 2005, according to police statistics released Friday.
The most noticeable drop came in auto burglaries, which fell from 29 in 2005 to 16 this year.
Officers stepped up patrols in the corridor between WestShore Plaza and International Plaza for the holiday shopping season in a repeat of their efforts in previous years.
In 2003, 93 robberies and burglaries were reported along the corridor; this year, the number dropped to 28.
You can never be certain of what is the cause and what the effect. But there was recently an article stating that the jails were overcrowded. Now we hear that crime is down. Coincidence? ... I don’t think so!

I don’t see how that can be? Read the paper, it is filled with crimes in Tampa. Can you imagine all the crimes that don’t make the paper?
