TAMPA - After spending the weekend penniless and homeless in Tampa, Sergio Quinones is going home to Sweden.
Quinones, a Swedish citizen, arrived in Tampa on an Amtrak train Saturday after eight months of traveling. He said the $1,700 in cash he was carrying was either lost or stolen on the train.
Quinones, 37, planned to use the money to buy a return ticket to Sweden. He said he has no credit cards.
The stranded Swede’s story caught the attention of many people in the Bay area, including a woman who works for Delta Airlines. She offered Quinones a free ticket to Copenhagen, Denmark. From there, Quinones said he’ll be able to find a way home to neighboring Sweden.
Quinones spent two nights sleeping inside Tampa police headquarters downtown. Another Bay area resident is paying to put him up in a hotel room tonight.
Quinones said he’s thankful for all the help he has received.
“I didn’t think everything would turn out so good, so fast,” he said. “It’s like all my prayers have been answered.”

I still say something just does not sit right with this story.I think it is a scam and he never had the $1,700.He just wanted a free ride home.Way do you think the churches would not Help? They know a scam when they see one.I hope I am wrong.
Bless those who helped the stranded stranger. Now lets get busy helping the homeless who have been living on our streets for years.
A thanks should go out to 98ROCK and their cool listeners. Big Rig and Largo had the guy on there 1st thing this morning! WOW!! We do have some really caring nice people around here.

Very nice of the Delta employee to take an interest in this man, and very nice of Delta Airlines to allow her to. Nice to see a big company help the little guy!
