News Channel 8 ImageTAMPA – A busy intersection is open again.
Earlier this morning, a gasoline spill had forced the closure of sections of Kennedy Boulevard and Lois Avenue, according to Tampa Police.
The spill occurred as underground tanks at the BP station at the intersection of Kennedy and Lois were being filled. At about 6:30 a.m., the gas began overflowing, spilling an undetermined amount of gasoline, according to Tampa Police spokeswoman Kristin Molina.
News Channel 8 ImageOne lane of Kennedy was shut down at Lois, and Lois Avenue was closed as well.
After the spill, the tanker driver began putting sand on the gasoline. Tampa Fire Rescue also responded, Molina said.
