TAMPA - Former “American Idol” contestant Jessica Sierra’s troubles keep mounting.
After being arrested Sunday on assault and drug charges, the 21-year-old now faces a lawsuit filed by the man accusing her of throwing a cocktail glass at him in a south Tampa bar.
Wisam Hadad, 28, of Tampa, filed a civil action on Wednesday in Hillsborough County Circuit Court seeking $15,000 in damages from Sierra and the owner of Hyde Park Café.
Sierra, a niece of Mayor Pam Iorio through marriage, finished in the top 10 on Fox’s hit TV show in 2005.
The incident happened at the Hyde Park Café about 1:50 a.m. Sunday when she got into an argument with Hadad, Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.
Sierra was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and taken to Orient Road Jail, where officers found a bag containing .8 grams of cocaine in her purse, police said. They slapped her with two more charges: cocaine possession and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.
She was held on $11,500 bail and released from the Falkenburg Road Jail about noon on Sunday.
