Former Bucs Player Abdullah Arrested

The Tampa Tribune

TAMPA - Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rabih Abdullah was being held in the Orient Road Jail Tuesday after being stopped on traffic charges in violation of his parole.

Abdullah was placed on one year’s probation on Dec. 6 after pleading guilty to reckless driving. That stemmed from an arrest in June on charges of carrying a concealed firearm, possession of marijuana, and DUI.

Abdullah was stopped Tuesday at 8:33 a.m. on Nebraska Avenue and charged reckless driving and driving with a license that was cancelled, suspended or revoked.

He played 43 games for the Bucs from 1999-2001 and later played for the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots. He listed his current occupation as a loan officer for a financial company in Clearwater.

Compassion? Nah..I have compassion for those grandmothers who are raising someone else’s kids on their fixed income. I have compassion for those single moms who refuse to get on welfare and raise their kids with their sole income. I have compassion for those returning from war without all their limbs and mental faculty.

No compassion for someone who made a ton of money and decided that he wanted to keep playing the “the real world” by his own set of rules.

I would rather bust him up side the head with a 2 by 4 and ask.."are you just stupid” . Compassion and praying ,ya right, throw sanity and common sense out the window. I would guess youre related somehow, and looking for leftovers .

I am a former athlete who has traveled a similiar road.  I know the demons he faces and there are many.  The first thing we must do a community is judge
compassionately.  Unless you have walked in a man shoes you do not know the reasons why he makes these choices.  Second, we can pray for him to find a program that can help him develop new coping mechanisms.  Third we hope and pray that G-D will humble him without taking the most precious gift of all, his life.  The concept of compassion and love is what Christ-mas
is really all about.
