TAMPA – Firefighters responded to an apartment fire within a few minutes and had the fire extinguished in 12, but two families who lived there were left without a home today.
About 10:50 a.m., firefighters with Tampa Fire Rescue and Temple Terrace Fire rescue were called to the fire at 11312 N. 52nd St. When they arrived, smoke was pouring from the ground floor of the building and fire was lapping the apartment above the unit where the fire began, firefighters reported. Residents in the ground-level apartment were home but there were no injuries.
Investigators with the Tampa Fire Marshal’s Office were trying to determine the cause of the fire. Damage is estimated at $50,000 or more.
