People are being told to turn in their Easy-Bake Ovens.
Hasbro, Inc. issued the nationwide recall today. The toymaker said 77 children have been burned by the oven and almost two hundred more got their fingers caught in the oven’s opening.
One 5-year-old girl had to have her finger partially amputated after a serious burn, according to a news release.
The toy was sold at Toys ‘R Us, Wal-Mart, Target, KB Toys and other retailers from May 2006 – July 2007 for about $25.
The recall does not apply to ovens sold before May 2006.
Company officials said caregivers should call Easy-Bake for instructions on how to return the toy oven for a voucher towards the purchase of another Hasbro product.
