TOWN ‘N COUNTRY - A suspected robber’s getaway was short-lived Friday afternoon, when a Hillsborough sheriff’s deputy spotted a man walking on Hillsborough Avenue and pulling off a ski mask. The deputy arrested Jacob Scott Sanborn.
The robbery occurred at 12:41 p.m. Friday at the El Unico Market, 6820 W. Hillsborough Ave., deputies said.
A man wearing dark clothes and a black ski mask walked into the store and demanded money from a clerk behind the counter. He ordered the clerk to put the money in a bag. When he got the cash, he left, walking west on Hillsborough Avenue, deputies said.
A deputy responding to the robbery spotted a man pulling off a mask. The deputy pulled over, made the arrest and recovered the bag of money.
Deputies charged Sanborn, 20, of 5510 Daniels Road, Tampa, with robbery. He was being held in Orient Road Jail with bail set at $7,500.
