HIGHLAND CITY – Three sheriff’s deputies are recovering from a scare today after their helicopter lost power and had to make an emergency landing in a field near Yarborough Lane and Crews Lake Drive.
Pilot Deputy Brian Bolton and flight observers Mike Ison and Robert Ard were responding to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle just before 2:30 a.m. today when their Polk County Sheriff’s Office helicopter experienced a mechanical failure and the pilot was forced to land the helicopter without power, according to a press release.
The helicopter landed on its skids and did not appear to be badly damaged, according to the release.
No one was injured in the landing, according to deputies.
