St. Petersburg police say they found three-year-old Edward C. Hunt around 5:30 this morning. He was asleep in a Chevy Lumina that was apparently abandoned at 40th Avenue North and 52nd Street, the same car that was reported stolen last night.
Officers are still investigating.
The auto theft was reported at 5259 17th Avenue N. Late Christmas night. Upon arrival, officers learned that a child was asleep in the back seat of the car when it was stolen.
A statewide Amber alert was issued overnight; it has since been canceled.

Well I have two kids of my own and I do not even leave them in a car for one solid minute alone and they are teens! Sorry but that is totally irresponsible to leave a child in a car for any amount of time. You can actually take two kids out at the same time with some effort.
I want to know why he left the baby in the car? And I why he didn’t lock the car? I have some doubt. Thank God the baby is going to be ok.
Jessica from Orlando - It’s obvious that you have no children or only one child. What do you do when two children fall asleep in a vehicle on the way home? You can only get one out at a time. Typically, you wouldn’t lock the car because you’re coming right back to get the other one. But from now on, I think we all might think twice about leaving a child in an unlocked car in this situation.
I hope they are investigating why a child was ALONE in a car sleeping!!! What are parents thinking anymore???

Uh - I have 2 kids and have never, ever left them in them car alone. If both are sleeping, I take them both out of the car at the same time. If I’m by myself, I carry one and make the other walk, push comes to shove, I’ll carry both if I have to.
