INDIAN SHORES - The son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense coordinator Monte Kiffin was arrested Tuesday on charges he broke into two vans to steal money and compact discs earlier in the week, Indian Shores police said.
Christopher Kiffin, 24, of 16200 Gulf Blvd., Redington Beach, was charged with two counts of burglary to a vehicle. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail on $10,000 bail within hours of his arrest.
According to arrest affidavits, Kiffin admitted to breaking into two vans along Gulf Boulevard in Redington Shores at roughly 4 a.m. Sunday. His plan was to take money and compact discs, but it was unclear from the affidavits whether he did so. Indian Shores Police Investigator Jason Routzahn declined to comment.
The affidavits say Kiffin was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the alleged crime.

At 24 years of age, one person and one person only is responsible for Christopher Kiffin’s action ... Christopher Kiffin!
Like everyone else in the World, parenting can only go so far. Adults make their own decision. The reality is if Christopher’s last name wasn’t Kiffin no one would have EVER heard of his arrest.
Monte must have spent too much time perfecting his schemes. Something had to suffer. Maybe its time to retire.
I hope they can get this KID off drugs. Its horrible to lose one. Been there done that.
To all those critics so fast on the judgement wagon…I suppose no one in your families has ever done a boneheaded thing!? All(yes I mean ALL)of us have at sometime been at the wrong place doing the wrong thing. Some
folks can’t handle being in the public eye and make really bad decisions as a result. I feel sorry for Monte, his son and his whole family. I know from experience how it is when a relative you think wouldn’t possibly break any laws ends up in jail! You don’t disown them for being incredibly stupid!
Chris Kiffin is good person that simply takes his good times to another level. I went to highschool with him and was removed for the same reason, Grades, and that reason only. Everyone makes mistakes, but only the son of a defensive coordinator will create this much press. Leave it to the family to deal with this, It’s nobody elses problem.
It really baffles me that children that belong to a prominent figure always seem to find a way to tarnish the families name. This idiot should be ashamed of himself to put a good name down with his antics. I am aware that his father is the Guru of schemes and it takes his son to create havoc to try and defame the family name. Sorry Jerkosaurus Rex that you have no input in what the family name stands for. Football you MORON!!!!!!!! I hate these sad stories…Did he think that he was not going to get caught….Think Wacko…Future Jacko…. If you belong to a prominent family, you will be broadcast throughout the states….Think twice next time before you steal something that should be on you Christmas List….Your dad can afford it…. Sounds like you are a real terd yourself.
How do you know Gruden is a horrible person? Your an idiot.
The guy is an adult, his dad happens to be Monte….
I don’t believe it is anyone’s job that they be judge, jury and executioner. Obviously the kid has a drinking and/or drug problem to be burglarizing vehicles at 4am. If he does suffer from addiction, no parental guidance could have prevented it, no matter how good or how bad. It is a shame that readers feel they way the do. Maybe they should spend less time commenting and more time loving their families.
I can see how people may jump to conclusions about this—I knew chris from back in high school and he is a good friend and a good person—and I am shocked to be reading this story right now—I can’t even imagine what is going on in his life that would have brought him to this point. We have all made mistakes and reached points in our lives that we are not proud of—I support Chris and the Kiffin family and I sincerely hope that Chris gets the help he needs.I will pray for the family.
ok for all you people out there that post your comments yes the guy made some bad choice’s but monte did his job.his son is 24yrs old and it’s not monte or the mother’s fault for the choice’s their son has made.we as parent’s hope that our children make good choice’s in life.monte keep up the good work this is just a bump in one the road and i hope it all work’s out for you and your family….go bucs
God Love Monte ...He’s a GREAT coach and person ......Not every person’s kid turns out to be as good as there father!!! Gruden’s kids will probably be perfect…because he is a horrible person!
It’s sad to see someone from a good family do something so STUPID like this and bring shame on his family name.Hope he gets what he desirves, but we all know that won’t happen.
we all love monte. we support him in these trying times. we wish them well.
Humm again…..If I shoot this dude for breaking in my car at 4:00 a.m., guess WHO is the public bad guy and gets a stiff penalty?
MONTY, forget the money and the fame, Obviously too much time away from home…I am not impressed that Gruden, Kiffin and all other NFL coaches work 20 hour days. It will not payoff, nor will the time and money get you to the Promised land before me…....
I HPOE HE GETS TREATED LIKE EVERY OTHER CRIMINAL. But we know that will not happen…..
This kid is worthless. He was a real work of art in HS. Got booted from Jesuit for God only knows what. He deserves whatever he gets. Which won’t be much only based on his father’s status in the community.
Humm lets guess, he willl get off, cleared record, drug center, and 60 days po - thats the crap that needs to change,

Bottom line is that “dad” spends 20 hours a day, 7 days a week trying to win a football game. Son spends 24 hours a day, 7 days a week wondering where “dad” is. The priorities are clear - to dad and son. And apparently to many of you Buc fans based on the posts so far.
