TAMPA - A Monday night dispute between two men arguing over a woman ended in bloodshed for one man and an attempted murder charge for the other, Hillsborough County sheriff’s spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
Deputies arrested Michael Wait, 45, a meat manager for a local grocery store, after he stabbed Sean McGarvey, 41, in the torso several times with an 8-inch kitchen knife, according to an arrest report and jail records.
The attack happened shortly after 9 p.m. in an apartment complex parking lot at 1250 Skipper Road, where both men live. The men were arguing about Wait’s girlfriend, Carter said.
McGarvey was rushed to Tampa General Hospital. His condition was unavailable Tuesday.
Wait remained at Orient Road Jail late Tuesday with no bail amount set.
