TAMPA - Former American Idol contestant Jessica Sierra was bailed out of the Falkenberg Road Jail at about noon Sunday after spending the morning behind bars on aggravated battery and drug charges, authorities said.
Tampa police arrested the singer at the Hyde Park Café nightclub at 2:15 a.m. Sunday. Police said she got into an argument with a club patron, Wisan Hadad, and from three or four feet away threw a heavy cocktail glass at him. The glass cut a ¾ inch slash above his right eyebrow, according to a police report.
Police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said it was unclear what the argument was about. Hadad refused treatment, she said.
Police took Sierra to the Orient Road Jail, where they searched her purse and found a baggie containing .8 grams of cocaine. They slapped her with two more charges: cocaine possession and introduction of contraband into a detention facility.
Sierra told police the cocaine was not hers and that no one else had her purse that night except the police.
Sierra, 21, appeared on the fourth season of the hit FOX television singing show and finished in the top 10.
