TAMPA - A man killed in a single car wreck Sunday night was identified Monday as 19-year-old John M. Fernandez, 4949 Mabrisa Drive, Apt. 314, authorities said.
Fernandez was eastbound on Linebaugh Avenue in a 1997 Hyundai when he lost control near Henderson Road around 9:45 p.m., said Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies.
The car went off the road and when the driver tried to steer it back onto the pavement, the car slid out of control and struck an oak tree on the south side of the road.
Fernandez was dead at the scene, deputies said.
I have known John since we became best friends in 3rd grade. We were separated after 4th grade until 7th...but it was like nothing changed. As odd as it is to say this...he was an amazing person, and a great friend. Just as I was working on gaining contact and building onto our friendship...he was taken away.
John may no longer be with us, but the memories will never be gone.
John was my roommate and my best friend. We all considered him to family as we did with eachother and we always were there for eachother. John had a very vibrant and promising future ahead of him and i was looking foward to many many more years of watching him grow as an intellegent mature and a very handsome guy. He will be missed and in my thoughts forever.
John was my boyfriend and the love of my life. He was the sunshine in my day and the peace in my night. Right now I don’t even know what to think. It still doesn’t seem real. I keep waiting for him to walk in the door, but I know he will never will....
He was the smartest, most compassionate person that I ever knew. He loved life and everyone that came into contact with him loved him dearly. He will be sooo missed, but I know that he will always be there for me....
John:
You were such a Nice Guy that God couldn’t wait any more to have you in Heaven with him.We will miss you.
I really didn’t know John but i was the first person at the scene and made to 911 call. I wish i could have done more for his family. His family and John will be im my prayers. I thank his mother for calling me this morning so i could have told her what she needed to know. If it is ok i would like to know where the service will take place so i could pay my respect to his family in person, i would be thankful for the help.
