TOWN ’N COUNTRY - Early morning gunfire outside a bottle club sent two Tampa men to the hospital today and authorities were looking for a suspect nicknamed Lucky.
The shooting occurred at 3:40 a.m. outside the Thirsty Turtle, 7530 W. Waters Ave., according to Hillsborough County sheriff’s spokeswoman Debbie Carter. Two men were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, she said.
Detectives were able to talk with one of the victims this morning, she said.
The names of the victims are not being published to protect their identities. The Tribune has a policy of withholding names of victims of seemingly random crimes when the perpetrators remain at large.
Carter said one of the victims, a 24-year-old Tampa man, told deputies that he and the other victim, 26, also of Tampa, got into an argument with the shooter and the argument ended in gunfire.
The younger victim was shot once in the arm and was expected to recover.
The other victim was shot in the stomach and arm and was admitted in critical condition, Carter said.
The shooter remained at large this morning, she said. He was described as being a black male with dreadlocks with a possible street name of Lucky.
