TAMPA - A man was wounded after a robber struck him in the face with a gun Monday while bursting into his apartment before stealing more than $7,000, police said.
Luis Figueroa, 27, was treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital and released after the home-invasion robbery about 12:45 a.m., police and hospital officials said.
According to a preliminary Tampa police report, Figueroa answered the door of 301 E. Whitehall Court, Apt. C, after two men knocked. One of the men struck him in the face with a gun and forced his way inside, police said.
The two forced Figueroa to walk to a bedroom where two other residents, Xiomara Figueroa, 27, and Abraham Velazquez, 36, were sleeping, police said. The two men demanded cash and took $7,000 from Luis Figueroa’s Social Security check and $981 from Xiomara Figueroa, police said.
