- Hurricane Center Forecasters Watching Atlantic Tropical Disturbance
Our second tropical storm of the season developed this week near the coast of Africa. This is an area of the Atlantic we usually see become active in August and September, but obviously, it’s not out of the question we could see a storm develop there earlier.
Right now, the track takes the storms over some relatively cool waters in the Atlantic, so Bertha will only slowly intensify. According to the National Hurricane Center’s forecast, the storm will move quickly to the west for the next 3 days and then turn slightly to the northwest. Even five days from now, the storm is forecast to be well off the coast of the U.S.
It’s still something we will continue to monitor. You can follow along with us. Click here for the National Hurricane Center’s forecast track.
