The state of our union is ... interactive

Here’s a little light reading in advance of Wednesday’s State of the Union address.

This interactive piece, apparently a project by a software developer with a tendency to wax philosophical, starts out as a word cloud of all the past State of the Union addresses. But wait - there’s more. Clicking around the page reveals an incredible density of information, including the full text of each State of the Union address, exact word counts, and historical timelines.

Some of President Obama’s favorite words last year included “economy” and “plan.” Given the situation we’re (still) in, we can expect more of the same this time around. New words are sure to emerge as well. Stay tuned.
