Hi.. I hope that Ms Berfield responds better than her staffers that take the email questions from the website, as I have written countless times to her to ask a question about certain issues, and have yet to have a response in any manner.. If you have a way to contact her.. please let her know that her staffers are horrid and all should be fired.. as they dont care about the little guy, only about those with huge bank accounts that can help pay election coverage.. Thanks…
J Charles Bregger

Dear Mr. Bregger:
Voters have a right to be frustrated with a non-response from a candidate, especially when the candidate has a website that encourages contact via e-mail (which the Berfield campaign website does). Candidates who ignore an inquiry from a constituent seeking issue information on which to base his or her vote decision do so at their own peril.
In fairness, the Berfield campaign website (www.berfield2006.com) “Contact Us†page does provide several other ways to contact the candidate--via telephone (727-324-7361) or mail (1550 McMullen-Booth Road, F3-121, Clearwater, FL 33759).
You are correct that it is often a campaign staffer that responds to the daily e-mails to a candidate’s website. Many are volunteers, rather than professionals, and in the waning days of a campaign, e-mails can come pouring in. But it is still incumbent upon the candidate and campaign manager to make sure questions from voter e-mails reach the candidate.
