Rep. Adam Putnam, a Bartow Republican, said he is voting against the $825 billion economic stimulus plan before the House.
He says there is too much waste and too little in the legislation that will actually revive the U.S. economy.
“We are digging a debt hole that goes all the way to China,” said Putnam. “We’ll be depending on the Chinese and a lot of other countries to finance a program that spends hundreds of millions of dollars on things have nothing to do with stimulating the economy.
He added: “It is no defense of this bill to say that Florida stands to gain millions of dollars, because the truth is that on a per capita basis, Florida is getting smaller share of this pork-laden pie than just about any other state.”
