Recently, many people have asked the weather team about what will happen to their battery-powered portable tvs after the digital conversion in February, 2009. Unfortunately, your old “rabbit ear” television will no longer work. You could connect a converter to it, but that converter requires power. Which means, when the power is out...your converter won’t work either.
So, what are you to do during Hurricane Season 2009? There have only recently been some portable HDTVs on the market. They are not cheap!
Here are a couple of examples. Remember to look for a television with a ATSC 2009 compliant tuner.
