Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd just expanded his reach again. The sheriff’s office and city of Dundee have entered into an agreement that locks PCSO into providing police services for Dundee for the next five years.
The new arrangement will go into effect Oct. 1 and will include 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week patrol services as well as investigative, crime scene and legal resources. PCSO will also station a full-time sergeant to supervise deputies in that area. Sheriff’s officials say Sgt. Bart Davis will fill that role.
Dundee Mayor Linda Riner-Mizell inked the deal with Sheriff Judd yesterday. As part of the agreement, Dundee will provide an office and office equipment to deputies while the sheriff’s office will provide all other patrol-related gear. PCSO administrators estimate the contract will save the city of Dundee $190,000 in its first year alone.
