Sen. Bill Nelson says he doesn’t know who Barack Obama will announce as his running mate.
But Florida’s Democratic U.S. senator says that in recent appearances and discussions with the Illinois senator, he’s made two suggestions—Hillary Clinton, whom Nelson backed in the primary, and Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware.
“ I told him that ... would help him in Florida,” said Nelson in an interview.
Besides backing Clinton in the primary, Nelson serves on the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, which Biden chairs.
Nelson said he doesn’t have any hint from Obama about who he will pick.
