Lobbyist and former state senator John Grant Jr. is seeking a seat on the problem-plagued Tampa Expressway Authority, and former state Rep. Sandy Murman and unsuccessful legislative candidate Jill Collins are applying for a seat on the Tampa Port Authority.
Grant has applied to Gov. Charlie Crist for appointment to the expressway authority seat along with lawyer Daniel L. Molloy and real estate developer Donald E. Phillips.
Murman and Collins have applied for the port authority seat, also appointed by Crist.
Murman ran unsuccessfully for the state Senate in 2006. Collins has run for the state House and has sought appointment to the Tampa City Council and the elections supervisor’s office.
