Florida Sen. Mel Martinez appears to be the last in a number of speakers cheering on the crowd at the Sarah Palin rally in downtown Clearwater.
Martinez said he met Palin briefly at the Republican convention in Minneapolis but looks forward to seeing her today and hearing her message.
“I don’t know what Katy Couric thinks of her,” Martinez said, in a reference to an interview Palin had with the CBS news anchor, but he says he wants to hear what she says directly, “not filtered through the media.”
Palin is expected to arrive at 9 a.m.
