Thunderstorms that popped up in the Gulf of Mexico are moving over the Pinellas County coast. Some areas can expect heavy rain from the system. Weather service radar showed some storms were dropping 3 inches of rain in an hour, prompting the weather service to issue an urban flood warning for central Pinellas
The storms are not moving much and are expected to lumber slowly north through the morning. Also, storms will begin forming to the north into the afternoon.
Folks in Seminole, Pinellas Park, Largo, Lealman, Kenneth City, Belleair Shores, Tarpon Springs and Holiday can expect to see these storms, the weather service says.
Other storms are starting to form along the sea breeze from Levy through Pinellas and forecasters expect to see more activity inland as the sea breeze and storms push farther from the coast.
